Take an easy guided hike on Saturdays and Sundays, now through Sept. 4, at Snoqualmie Pass and learn something about the history, plants and animals of the Cascades.
Hikes to Gold Creek Pond are scheduled Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The 1-mile trail goes around the lake and takes about 90 minutes with discussions of flora and fauna.
Twin Lakes is a 2-mile round trip to the lakes and back through dense old-growth forest at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sundays.
The hikes are geared for all ages. Make reservations 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays and holidays at 425-434-6111. Programs for groups can be scheduled during the week.
Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring a day pack containing sunscreen, water and extra clothing. Leave pets at home. A $10 donation per person is suggested.
