Dr. Stephen Bezruchka, an expert on global health issues, will talk about health disparity around the world at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Black Box Theatre at Edmonds Community College.
Bezruchka is a senior lecturer for the University of Washington’s Department of Global Health and practiced as an emergency physician for 30 years. He also has spent more than 10 years in Nepal setting up community health projects and training Nepali doctors.
He directs the Population Health Forum at the University of Washington, which is concerned with why Americans die so much younger than people in all the other rich nations and even a few poor ones, despite spending half of the world’s health care bill.
The talk is part of the college’s lecture series for the 2011-12 academic year. Lectures are open to the public. Edmonds Community College is at 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
