I’ll admit I’m not much of a horse person — never been on one actually — but these Lipizzaner Stallions were impressive. They could trot and cantor, they could keep time to the music, they could stand on their hind legs and you could just tell they were amazingly smart.
And beautiful to watch.
I went to the Lipizzaner Stallion show with my sister in law Heather and her 12 year old daughter McDarra and my close friend Marina. They all loved the show. Here’s what they thought:
Marina: I’ve been on a horse but it was a while back…and they are a long way down! These horses were fantastic athletes. You could see their muscles as they moved beneath the spotlight, and you couldn’t help but be in awe as they jumped, twisted, pawed and reacted to their riders. What kept everything moving was the witty banter of the emcee. He brought out the history of these equine athletes and also added a lot of humor. For example, how do you spell Lipizzaner? Just put Li–and add “pizza” then “ner.” Done!
Heather: Thanks for taking us to the show Theresa. The graceful horses were like a performance lullaby that soothed me into a state of deep relaxation. They were beautiful animals trained by dedicated horse lovers in a tradition hundreds of years old. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon with family and friends.
McDarra: The Lipizzaners were great! It was fun when the horses would jump into the air but I yawned a lot. I know my way around a horse but I never could do something that great.
