Woody Harrelson has given up marijuana after decades of what he calls partying too hard.
The actor is one of Hollywood’s most well-known marijuana enthusiasts. Harrelson tells Vulture that he hasn’t smoked pot in nearly a year.
He cites “30 solid years” of partying for his decision to quit. He also says he felt like the drug was “keeping me from being emotionally available.” Still, he has nothing bad to say about marijuana, which he calls “a great drug.”
The 55-year-old says he still drinks alcohol in moderation.
Harrelson was arrested in 1996 for planting hemp seeds in Kentucky in order to challenge a state law. Hemp is a relative of marijuana, but has a lower concentration of THC, the substance that makes pot smokers high.
Musician mistaken for robber: Grammy-winning musician Wyclef Jean says he was unfairly detained by authorities in Los Angeles County after being mistaken for a robbery suspect.
Jean posted a video Tuesday on Twitter showing himself in handcuffs leaned over a patrol car.
Jean said he was stopped by Los Angeles police, but he was actually detained by sheriff’s deputies in neighboring West Hollywood.
The former Fugees star said he tried to explain that he wasn’t the suspect but was ignored and cuffed.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Nishida says Jean’s clothing and vehicle matched the description of a suspect in an armed robbery.
She says he was detained for a “short time” and then released. The suspects were later arrested.
Jean said on Twitter that he was “appalled at this behavior.”
Katy Perry “prayed the gay away”: Katy Perry says she prayed against homosexuality during her “unconscious adolescence.”
The 32-year-old singer opened up about her sexuality and praised the gay community while receiving an award from the Human Rights Campaign on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Perry was born into a fundamentalist Christian family, but says she was curious about sexuality and knew it wasn’t a black-and-white issue. She referenced one of her biggest hits in telling the group “I kissed a girl and I liked it.” She added that she also “did more than that.” She says she “prayed the gay away” at Christian camps, but later met people outside of her “bubble.”
She says without people in her life from the LGBTQ community she’d be “half of the person I am today.”
Arnold trolls Trump: Arnold Schwarzenegger is turning the table on Donald Trump by taking to social media to criticize the president’s own approval ratings.
Schwarzenegger posted a video on Twitter referencing a new Gallup poll that showed Trump’s approval rating at 39 percent, down 6 points from a week earlier. Schwarzenegger tells Trump, “The ratings are in and you got swamped.”
The action star and former California governor replaced Trump as the host of “Celebrity Apprentice,” and Trump repeatedly mocked him for poor television ratings. Schwarzenegger recently said he wouldn’t return to the show.
Schwarzenegger also criticized Trump’s proposed budget cuts, including to after-school programs.
He invited Trump to visit a Washington, D.C., middle school with him to see “fantastic work” being done for children.
Schwarzenegger didn’t support Trump during his presidential run.
Kardashian West expected rape during Paris heist: Kim Kardashian West says she “mentally prepped” herself to be raped while being held at gunpoint during a Paris jewelry heist last year.
Kardashian West discussed the incident on Sunday night’s episode of the E! network’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
She says two robbers wearing police uniforms entered her hotel room last October. One of the robbers duct-taped her mouth while she was in bed, grabbed her legs and pulled her toward him. She says she wasn’t raped, but had a gun held to her head.
Kardashian West says the men picked her up and put her in a bathtub before making off with jewelry.
She said on Twitter Sunday that she “learned some valuable lessons” through the experience.
Ten people have been charged in connection with the case.
