Mukilteo garage sale showcases local artists

Bargain hunters will descend on the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo on Saturday for the 11th annual Artists’ Garage Sale, a one-day sale of art and art supplies sponsored by the Arts Council of Snohomish County. Sale hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

This is the place to pick up original art by local artists at discounted prices, plus art supplies such as paint and brushes. Local artists have cleaned out their studios, attics, basements and garages to make room for new art projects.

More than 50 of them will be selling seconds, old and new stock, including watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, glass, found objects, sculpture, ceramics, photography and prints.

Among the participating artists are Steve Dalton, Persis Gayle, Chris Giffin, Gina Holt, Lyussy Hyder, Dehanna Jones, Lisa Jones-Moore, Stacie Kentop, Lee Klastorin, Cheri O’Brien, Shari Osti, Barry McAlister, Jackie Mendelson, Birgit Moenig, Marissa Motto, Paula Rey, Sue Robertson, Pat Tolle, Roxanne Van Wyk and Yu-Ming Zhu.

Art walk: Nine galleries will be open Saturday for a summer art walk in downtown Langley. Check out the art and enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres until 8 p.m.

Visitors will see work by noted sculptor Georgia Gerber, painter Ezju, glass artist Rob Adamson and watercolorist Byron Birdsall,

More walking on Whidbey: Coupeville art galleries host an art walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Featured galleries include:

Art Gallery Stella featuring watercolor painter Stella Canfield; Atelier Michele Studio and Gallery with paintings by scenic and portrait painter Michele Kempees; Blue Heron Studio and Gallery with paintings by Barbara Marks.

Also Penn Cove Gallery, a cooperative gallery showing glass, watercolor, prints, jewelry, photography and sculpture; Whidbey Panoramas Gallery, with panoramic photography by M. Denis Hill, other local and regional photographers, jewelry by Stella Canfield, woodwork by Gary Leake; Windjammer Gallery, showing art with the emphasis on nature.

At the Lynnwood library: Shirley Ashenbrenner will have her mixed media paintings on display today through July 14 at the Lynnwood Library Gallery, 19200 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

Free to the public, the Lynnwood Library Gallery showcases local and regional artists on both the amateur and professional level.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Ashenbrenner is a life-long resident of Washington state with formal training in painting from Western Washington University.

Eager shoppers head for the art bargains at this recent Arts Garage Sale, sponsored by the Arts Council of Snohomish County.
