50 YEARS AGO (1959)
The public was invited to the Hawthorne Fun Night tonight at the elementary school. A photo showed Lena Hunt, ways and means chair, with her daughter, Barbara, and Barbara Swanson, PTA president.
Everett’s modern new $150,000 Greyhound bus terminal would be officially dedicated at an elaborate civic ceremony and public open house tomorrow, it was announced today by Geneva Backstrom, terminal manager for Greyhound Lines here. The new building, construction of which began in April, sat on the northeast corner of Pacific and Hoyt avenues.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
At least 50 Silver Lake grade-schoolers might be attending school in a church next year — a church owned and operated by the school district. The Everett School Board had agreed to buy the Silver Lake Community Church for $110,000. Adjacent to the school, it would be annexed and converted into five classrooms, according to assistant superintendent Paul Sjunnesen.
Sue Grigsby, coach of Everett Community College’s women’s cross country team, was named coach of the year of other by other women’s cross country coaches of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.
