The party, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., lets parents celebrate the occasion with their children before heading out for a night on the town.

Immediately following the New Year’s Eve Silvertips Game against the Moose Jaw Warriors, families can celebrate the holiday together at the Everett Conference Center.

The New Year’s Everett event offers participants an opportunity to skate at the Comcast Community Ice Rink, have autographs signed and photos taken with Lincoln, the Silvertips mascot, and members of the hockey team. Those interested can try their luck at Silvertips intermission games including hamster ball, sumo wrestling and tricycle riding.

Toast the new year while watching the ball drop live from New York City with a champagne or cider toast. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Children and parents can dance away the afternoon at the family celebration. Dance instructors will teach children and parents dances such as the twist, the mashed potato, the swim and the stroll. Throughout the afternoon, visitors can participate in a dance contest with prizes for the best “couples,” such as mother and son, father and daughter, or Mom and Dad.

The local band One Way Ticket will perform classic rock ‘n’ roll during the party, including hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. The band’s members include guitarists Dan Hewitt and John Highet, drummer Randy Lowe, bassist Michael Baldwin and 15-year-old lead guitarist Marcus Nevitt.

Tickets are available at the door.
