Northwest Stream Center brings back ‘Beavers’ film

We cannot get enough of those toothy beavers.

Back by popular demand, the beaver show returns to the Northwest Stream Center on Friday.

The show includes an appearance by Sammy the Salmon, information about beavers and their habitat, and the popular IMAX movie “Beavers” that gives viewers an close and intimate look at a beaver family.

“The whole family will enjoy ‘Beavers,’ ” said Adopt A Stream Foundation Director Tom Murdoch. Adopt A Stream and Snohomish County Parks &Recreation are teaming up with Snohomish County Surface Water Management to present this program.

“Everyone will be able to take a virtual swim with beavers and experience the beautiful underwater habitat of one of natures greatest engineers,” Murdoch said.

The film is a 31-minute peek into the lives of a beaver family that lives in the forest and lakes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Viewers will get to watch baby beavers grow and play, and with their parents, create a dam that completely alters their surrounding environment.

Before the film, Sammy the Salmon will explain how the lifestyle of beavers helps salmon, trout and a variety of wildlife. After the movie, Murdoch will be available to answer questions about beaver habits and their habitat and share his own experiences with North America’s biggest rodent.

Visitors will also get to look for beavers in the Northwest Stream Center Trout Stream Exhibit pond.

The beaver show starts at 7 p.m. Friday at the Northwest Stream Center, at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

This is a free event but registration is required by calling 425-316-8592 to reserve a seat. For more information or for directions go to www.streamkeeper.org.
