Out and about

“My Little Pony” expo is for all ages

It’s three big days of My Little Pony.

Everfree Northwest, May 13, 14 and 15, is a pony-palooza for all fans of ages.

The event at Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport, 18740 International Blvd., has My Little Pony vendors, contests, auctions, games and you name it.

Come dressed as your favorite character and sing a little pony karaoke.

Get autographs from show writers, comic book colorists and the voices of characters such as Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Applebloom and Pinkie Pie.

There’s an arts, crafts and a programming track tailored for kids. Free passes for ages 12 and under.

So many ponies, so little time. You might need to go all three days; everfreenw.com.

Get wet: The Kenmore Waterfront Fair is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14. Try out kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, dragonboats, canoes and rowing shells. Sign up your kids for summer paddling or rowing day camps, lessons or the dragonboat club. Join the adult dragonboating or rowing clubs or take some paddling lessons.

Want to store your hand-carried boat? Check out the new public boat storage at Squires Landing Park; kenmorewac.org.

Dance: The Penn Cove Water Festival opening ceremony is at 11 a.m. May 14 in Coupeville. It includes traditional and ceremonial dances with audience participation, Tsimshian Haayuuk dancers, canoe racing and storytelling around the bonfire at Pacific Rim Institute at 8 p.m. May 13; www.penncovewaterfestival.com.

Upcoming: The Skagit Wedding Tour is May 22. You can tour seven wedding venues in Skagit County. Couples will travel between venues and experience each one as if attending a wedding.

Each venue will have a ceremony and reception set-up with wedding professionals to answer questions.

There are two types of tickets: VIP tickets are $25 and include transportation to all seven venues and a swag bag. Self-guided tickets are $10; www.wedinskagit.com.

Curly Tops Cypress (Chamaecyparis pisfiera), a modern version of the old Boulevard Cypress, is one I chose years ago and still enjoy.
