In the week heading into November sweeps, many networks trotted out repeats of season premieres, which hurt several shows in the ratings with the exception of “CSI,” which maintained its hold on the top spot in the weekly ratings released by Nielsen Media Research today.
“CSI” was the only repeat to rank in the top 10, with ABC’s “Lost” taking the biggest hit. Wednesday’s repeat of the show, which has ranked consistently as the third most watched each week, fell to 44th place with just over 9 million viewers — mostly because nearly 20 million people were watching the final game of the World Series.
Also taking a hit, likely due to World Series Game 3, was ABC’s “Commander in Chief,” which slipped to No. 11 with 15.6 million viewers, just below the 16 million-plus it had been averaging each week.
“Grey’s Anatomy,” which was not a repeat, held strong with 16.7 million viewers despite following a rerun of the “Desperate Housewives” season premiere, which fell to No. 13 in the ratings. Here’s a complete list:
1. “CSI” CBS, 24.2 million viewers
2. “Without a Trace” CBS, 21.8 million
3. “World Series: Game 4” Fox, 20 million
4. “CSI: Miami” CBS, 19.9 million
5. “NCIS” CBS, 18 million
6. “Survivor: Guatelamala” CBS, 17.4 million
7. “Two and a Half Men” CBS, 16.8 million
8. “Grey’s Anatomy” ABC, 16.7 million
9. “World Series: Game 3” Fox, 16.7 million
10. “Extreme Makeover: Home Editon” ABC, 16.5 million
