50 YEARS AGO (1959)
The Rev. Everett M. Richey was appointed at Grace Methodist Church, 2402 Summit Ave. Richey, a native of Snohomish County, received his training at College of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. He came to Grace after three years in Custer, Wash. He, his wife and three children resided at the parsonage next door on 24th Street.
D.R. Bingham, 2933 Rockefeller Ave., a local distributor, and the 23 dealers in this area announced that their firm, J.R. Watkins Co., won the top award for the outstanding program of public relations for 1958-59 for the entire direct-selling industry.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
The Pilchuck School in Stanwood was recognized by Gov. John Spellman for its achievements in art in Washington state. The school, along with director Dale Chihuly, was one of five recipients of the 1984 Governor’s Art Awards. The winners were selected from among 100 nominations submitted.
On furlough with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Cameroon, West Africa, were Edward and Virginia Ubels of Everett. They were involved in translating the New Testament into the Karang language.
