50 YEARS AGO (1959)
W. Doyle Watt of Everett was elected to serve a second term on the National YMCA Board. Watt also was president of the Pacific Northwest YMCA Area Council and a member of the area board. It was a commendable recognition for the city to have one of its citizens selected at the national level.
Literature that might help to save the lives of men, women and children in Snohomish County would be made available during the month of April by the local division of the American Cancer Society. Helping to display the literature were Lyn Dempsey, Mary Hammitt and Janet Westley, under the direction of Ruth Douglas.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Birthday wishes were in order for Edna Frickey, who was honored this week on her 100th birthday at Virginia Manor on Hoyt Avenue, her home for the past 15 years.
Mike Taggart spent the recent spring break for Everett Community College in Tucson, Ariz. He visited his aunt, Ruth Taggart-Ohrt, and took in some spring training baseball games, including the Seattle Mariners. Traveling with him was grandmother Gertrude Taggart.
