50 YEARS AGO (1958)
Dreams of umpteen Crab Louies and hundreds of cocktails passed through the minds of employees of Chase Seafood when Jack “The Crab King” Moskovita came to the dock with a big load of crabs yesterday. He had 35 dozen taken from 100 pots he operating off Hat Island.
Hopes to keep championship chances alive rested on Marysville’s big game this Friday at Burlington. Coach Bob Bonjorni of the Tomahawks conferred with a pair of his quarterbacks about the Tiger game. The signal-callers were seniors Floyd Butler and Lynn Westlund.
25 YEARS AGO (1983)
Everett City Council approved $150,000 to match a possible state grant for Phase 2 of the Kasch Park development. That would include a lighted, multiple-use soccer and football filed at the 60-acre park near Airport Road. Bob Cooper was recently appointed acting park director following the resignation of Chuck Logan.
A low-cost hot lunch program featuring Mexican cuisine was to begin at the Hispanic Center in south Everett next month. Dave Alcorda was the consultant for the Hispanic Coalition which was operating the program. Rosalia Cardenas was coalition co-chairperson.
