50 years ago (1963)
A four-member rifle team from Everett’s Old Guard Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars were the tops in the nation. The junior rifle team outscored 34 others to win the national title after 10 years of finishing among the top five. Comprising the quartet were Ann Vandermeersche, June Rembolt, Pat Hendrickson and Dave Justice.
Among the used cars for sale at H&H Motors were a ‘61 Corvette convertible with a four-speed stick for $3395, a ‘58 Edsel Ranger hardtop coupe for $1095, a ‘57 Ford Fairlane two-door club sedan for $1095, and a ‘56 Chevrolet two-door hardtop for $795.
25 years ago (1988)
Wim Goverde’s at 3829 Broadway wished all a safe, healthy and happy new year. They offered Bosch Authorized Service by trained technicians who worked on U.S. and foreign cars.
Best, whose closest stores were on North Broadway and in Lynnwood, advertised that people could save their Christmas memories with film-developing savings. For $6.12, they offered two sets of photos as well as a free roll of film. There also were sales on Kodak, Nikon and Minolta cameras.
