50 years ago (1961)
Lake Stevens Mayor Bill Hawkins met with Volunteer Fire Department members Mick Morris, Loral Anderson, Earl Gates and Gordon Rux about the department’s ninth annual ball. The event at Lundeen’s Park would raise funds for Station No. 2 on Swalwell Road.
Gladys Stuyts got an official description of the safe deposit vault in the new Security State Bank, Lynnwood, from President James Howells and Board Chairman Jack Bennett. The description was part of a preview inspection of the building as the officials prepared for the grand opening tomorrow.
25 years ago (1986)
A doll show was taking place today at Christmas Gifts on Broadway. “Little Old New York” featured Effanbee, Suzanne Bigson, Pauline, Corolls, Steiff, handcrafted and old dolls. The gingerbread house was located at 3224 Broadway.
Thousands of would-be spectators had comfortable, padded seats during this year’s Paine Field Air Show. They were those inside their cars as traffic snarled the streets and highways in south Everett. Mike Scott, fair chairman, said they ran out of parking. The annual event would have record attendance numbers.
