Snohomish County’s newest airport, Green Valley Airfield, would be dedicated Aug. 26. The new field was located two miles northwest of Granite Falls on Burn Road. With three hangars, charter service, a restaurant, a mechanic and FFA approval, it was operated by Mr. and Mrs
. Kenneth Padgett.
Folks attending Evergreen State Fair might see a movie star in the making in one of the animals, it was revealed by Robert Follis, president. Twentieth Century Fox was looking for a Hampshire boar to fill the role of Blue Boy in the motion picture “State Fair.”
25 years ago (1986)
Plans were under way for a new Volunteers of America Human Resources Center at 2810 Broadway. It would provide much needed services to the county food bank, county care crisis line, outreach family counseling, emergency housing/shelter, adult rehabilitation, summer camp administration, rental housing mediation and child care assistance.
Traffic on the Hewitt Avenue trestle was slowed this morning after a truck spilled its load of lumber at the southbound ramp to I-5. No one was injured in the accident which occurred about 4:40 a.m. and traffic returned to normal after 9:00 a.m.
