Vince Martinis was named president of the Everett Junior College Booster Club at an informal meeting in the faculty lounge at the college. Don Prater was vice president and Glenn Hoiby, secretary. Barbara J. Marker, daughter of Floyd E. Marker Sr., 2521 Norton Ave., enlisted today in the United States Women’s Army Corps. She is a 1960 graduate of Granite Falls High School.
25 years ago (1986)
Dorothy Vognild, administrative secretary to Everett Fire Chief Doug McNall, was to retire from the fire department, where she had worked with six fire chiefs since 1961.
Her husband, state Sen. Larry Vognild, was a former battalion chief with the department.
Todd Mead of Edmonds, a Mariner High School student, was credited with saving the life of a fellow scuba diver off Mukilteo. Using buddy-system techniques, he used his own mouthpiece to pass air to his diving buddy, who had run out of air at a depth of 100 feet.
