50 years ago (1961)

Immaculate Conception and Perpetual Help junior high basketball teams were colliding tomorrow night in their big game in the EHS gym tomorrow night. In a photo Lou Stevenson of Perpetual was flanked by Gary Oczkewicz and Dennis English of Immaculate. Also in the picture were game chairman Vince Weipert and Lee Gese of the sponsor, Knights of Columbus.

Annexation interest among residents in a wide area south of Everett was gaining momentum. Laurel Heights between 41st and 60th streets and Colby Avenue and Broadway would probably be the first, but some south of Casino Road were interested as well.

25 years ago (1986)

This year the Evergreen State Fair at Monroe would honor Tom and Peg Kennedy, both with 20 years of volunteer service to the fair. Peg had headed up the 4-H sheep department and Tom had been leader, exhibitor and a member of the advisory board.

Among those graduating this week from Snohomish County Extension’s Master Livestock program were Ken Briggs and William H. Dickey, Everett; Sandi Beard, Ann Muchoney and Sue Satrom, Snohomish; Jan Klier, Monroe; and Kay Crabtree and Shirlee Park, Arlington.
