50 years ago (1962)

Everett Horizon Fireside recently installed officers at Legion Park Hall. Jane Gall was installed as president; Marilyn Winde, vice president; Judy Speer, secretary; Judy Solie, treasurer; Judy McEwen, historian; Bonnie Kalb and Leslie Lindquist, inspiration; and Janet Iles, publicity. Outgoing president Susan Holmstrom was given a crystal dish from Horizon Clubs of Everett. Refreshments were served by Hacita and Elui Soris Horizon Clubs.

Dan Stephen Rochon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Rochon, 2010 Rainier Ave., was 1 year old today. Grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Franck Barcott and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rochon. Dan had two brothers, Frank, 5, and Ronald, 4.

25 years ago (1987)

Local winners of grants presented by the Elks National Foundation included Kathleen A. Kaa of Everett High School and David Hatlen of Snohomish High School, who each received $1,000 in the scholarship/leadership contest. Receiving a $2,000 vocational grant was Katrina E. Brown of Phoenix Alternative High School and Sno-Isle Skills Center.

Dina Ahles of Sultan was awarded the 1987-88 Liz Sipprell Scholarship from the Everett Chapter of Professional Secretaries International. The amount of the scholarship was $350.
