50 YEARS AGO (1960)
Today was the grand opening of the new $500,000 Albertson’s store at Madison Street and Highway 99 S. Gilbert Smith was the store manager. Albertson’s was a Pacific Northwest food chain and had grown from one store in Boise, Idaho, into a 65-store operation.
Bethany nursing home unveiled plans for its new home at 3222 Broadway in Everett. They planned to raze the wooden southern portion (an old hospital and Bethania College) and replace it with two three-story wings. The brick northern section would be retained. An invitation was made to the general public to invest in a $300,000 first mortgage bonds issued for the project.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
The Common Cents Investment Club was having its monthly meeting at Dain Bosworth, 2929 Colby Ave., Everett. A broker from Dain Bosworth was to speak about stock market investments.
Faith Fellowship was dedicating its new house of worship during an open house Sunday. The church, located on 35th Avenue, was affiliated with the American Baptist Church and served a congregation from the south Everett, Bothell and Mill Creek area. The Rev. David Hastings was pastor.
