50 YEARS AGO (1960)
An ad for Coy’s Toys, 2605 Colby Ave., read “Look For Our New Sign.” With the largest stock of baby furniture in the county, they encouraged mothers, grandmothers and expectant mothers to register now for the “Crib of the Month Club.” A crib would be given away free each month starting in February.
Everett High School students would be at Eagles Hall tonight collecting for the March of Dimes. Heading up the effort were Anita Brevik, Jim Carlson, Larry Iverson and Bob Wallace.
25 YEARS AGO (1985)
Perry Mason visited Everett. Actor Raymond Burr, since 1981 the spokesman for the independent Insurance Agents of America, was on a five-city tour of Washington. He dropped in on the staff of Gilkey-Armstrong Insurance here. Everett was not strange territory to Burr, as he was born in New Westminster, B.C.
In Marysville, the city council was considering extending sewer and water service to areas outside the city limits that might one day join the city. Jay King, owner of property on 35th Avenue, was seeking water service for his property. Council member Ken Baxter recommended that they might also explore wells.
