Edmonds Meaningful Movies: “Harvest of Empire” is showing at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 8109 224th St. SW, Edmonds. The documentary looks at the connection between the long history of U.S. intervention in Latin America and the immigration crisis we face today. More at meaningfulmovies.org.

Sunday Films at the Library: Watch a movie for free each Sunday afternoon at Everett’s main library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. The Bulgarian-Greek drama “Glory” is showing 2 p.m. Sept. 9. A railroad worker finds millions in cash on the train tracks. He decides to turn the money over to the police, for which the state rewards him with a new wristwatch that soon stops working. Meanwhile, the head of the PR department of the Ministry of Transport loses Petrov’s old watch, a family relic. Here starts his desperate struggle to recover both his old watch and his dignity. Throwback Thursdays: Free movies on the third Thursday of the month at the Edmonds Theater, 415 Main St., Edmonds. Doors at 7:30 p.m., show at 8 p.m. Donations collected at every event benefit nonprofits in Snohomish County. On Sept. 20, watch “Bullitt” (1968), starring Steve McQueen as police lieutenant Frank Bullitt. The free shows continue through Dec. 20. More at www.facebook.com/theedmondstheater.

Silent Movie and Pipe Organ Night: 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28, Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. The movie is “Modern Times,” starring Charlie Chaplin and featuring Paulette Goddard as an orphan girl. Chaplin’s iconic Little Tramp is employed at a state-of-the-art factory where the inescapable machinery overwhelms him. Various mishaps continue to land him in prison.
