Diversity Film Series: The city of Edmonds’ Diversity Commission has announced it inaugural series. The free screenings will be at noon on third Saturdays in October, November, January, February, March and April at the Edmonds Theater, 415 Main St. Arrive 15 minutes early. First up, on Oct. 21, is “Somewhere Between,” a chronicle of the lives of four Chinese girls adopted by American families and their coming-of-age struggles as they find themselves somewhere between typical American teens and natives of a land that is familiar, yet alien to them. Edmonds Center for the Arts Film Cabaret Series: The series opens Oct. 27 with Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 flick “The Birds,” the story of a northern California coastal town dealing with the onslaught of seemingly unexplained, arbitrary and chaotic attacks by ordinary birds. The cabaret entertainment that night is by Marina and the Dreamboats. The series continues Jan. 12 with “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” from 2000 and the Warren G. Hardings band. On March 15, see the 1999 film “The Buena Vista Social Club” with music by Alma y Azucar. On April 26, see “Breakfast at Tiffany’s from 1961 with the Jake Bergevin Quartet.
