Feb. 26: “The Lady Vanishes.” A young woman traveling in Europe realizes an elderly woman has vanished from the train; with Margaret Lockwood, Michael Redgrave and Dame May Whitty (1938).
March 26: “Rebecca.” Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine as newlyweds tormented by the memory of the husband’s late wife (1940).
April 30: “Shadow of a Doubt.” Teresa Wright suspects her visiting Uncle Charlie (Joseph Cotton) may not be who she thought he was (1943).
May 28: “Lifeboat.” Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix, Walter Slezak and Hume Cronyn are among the survivors when a ship is torpedoed (1944).
June 25: “Notorious.” A woman is asked to spy on Nazies in South American; with Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant (1946).
July 30: “Rope.” Two friends commit the perfect murder. Stars Dick Hogan, John Dall and Farley Granger (1948).
Aug. 27: “Strangers on a Train.”A socialite plots a double murder; with Robert Walker and Farley Granger (1951).
Sept. 24: “Dial M for Murder.” A tennis pro (Ray Milland) plans to murder his wife (Grace Kelly), but things go awry (1954).
Oct. 29: “Rear Window.” James Stewart, laid up with a broken leg, and Grace Kelly, in designer clothes, suspect a neighbor of murder (1954).
Nov. 26: “Vertigo.” A retired detective (James Stewart) becomes obsessed with a friend’s wife (Kim Novak) in San Francisco (1958).
Dec. 31: “North by Northwest.” A New York executive becomes embroiled with spies; he meets Eva Marie Saint he was flees across the country (1959) (No 6:30 showing).
Reel World Cinema: The six-movie series for winter is “Oscar Buzz,” the films picked as the favorites by Reel World buffs from 150 movies shown in the past six years. A potluck starts at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at 7 and a discussion afterward. In this case, the final movie, the favorite, will be unvealed on the final special night; First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Feb. 14: “The Birdcage” (Mike Nichols, 1996). The only comedy to make the top six, it’s a story about family. Gay couple Robin Williams and Nathan Lane face a dilemma when they are forced to meet their son’s fiance’s parents, a right-wing senator and his wife (Gene Hackman and Diane Wiest).
Feb. 28: “The Grapes of Wrath” (John Ford, 1940). John Steinbeck’s saga of the Joad family’s move from Oklahoma to the farms of California during the Dust Bowl. With Henry Fonda, Jane Darwell and John Carradine.
March 14: “Rear Window” (Alfred Hitchcock, 1954). James Stewart, laid up with a broken leg, and Grace Kelly, in designer clothes, suspect a neighbor of murder.
March 28: The biggest vote getting will be announced at the screening. Who will it be?
