Where: A loop beginning at Legion Memorial Park in Everett to Grand Avenue Park and back.
What: A 3.4-mile walk along the bluff above Everett’s waterfront, down neighborhood streets with peekaboo views of Port Gardner Bay.
Why: It’s a new year with new resolutions … to walk, to continue to walk, to start to walk … so I say pick your favorite route, maybe the one that leaves from your front door, and put one foot in front of the other until you’re there. This walk along Grand Avenue has water views, lovely old homes and possibly spectacular sunsets. Park on the west side of Alverson Boulevard across from Legion Park and savor the view of the Snohomish River and beyond. Start out on the bike trail on the east side of Alverson then jog across to the sidewalk on the west side as it turns into Grand Avenue. The gentrified north Everett neighborhood has a fascinating mixture of graceful Dutch colonials, cozy bungalows and spreading ’60s ramblers, with a Cape Cod or two thrown in. Take a breather at one of the benches at Grand Avenue Park overlooking the water before cutting over to Rucker for the return trip.
