Head to Tacoma’s Point Defiance Zoo &Aquarium to take advantage of half-price admission today through April 3, when most schools have spring break.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the passage of a $35 million bond that led to the creation of new facilities and updates.
“We wanted to thank the community with a special week celebrating all the great exhibits their support helped bring to Point Defiance Zoo &Aquarium,” spokeswoman Sheelah Medved said.
On Monday, check out the Kids’ Zone, where kids can crawl on a giant spiderweb, pet guinea pigs or groom goats.
Tuesday the focus is on the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater. Zoo experts will talk about different animals.
Wednesday will look at the environmentally friendly veterinary hospital, which boasts green design elements.
Thursday will be Rocky Shores Day, starring beluga whales, polar bears, otters and others sea creatures.
The zoo is at 5400 N. Pearl St., Tacoma. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Wheelchairs, strollers and other items can be rented for separate fees.
Regular admission is $13 for ages 13 to 64, $12 for ages 65 and older, $11 for ages 5 to 12 and $7 for ages 3 to 4.
