Wednesday’s highlights on TV include:
Stephen King gets some more television exposure in “Mr. Mercedes.” It’s a thriller based on a King novel that follows a crazed killer who persistently haunts a retired detective following a slew of unfortunate events. The cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Harry Treadway and Mary Louise-Parker. 8 p.m., AT&T Audience Network.
“The Story of Diana” is a documentary airing over two nights that marks the 20th anniversary of her tragic passing at the age of 36. Included: in-depth interviews with those who knew her best, plenty of archival footage and a look at how her story remains relevant today. 9 p.m., ABC.
The first two seasons of the acclaimed, groundbreaking series “Transparent” — previously available via Amazon —comes to prime time. The saga revolves around the dysfunctional Pfefferman family following the discovery that the family patriarch, Mort, is transgender, and transforms into Maura (Jeffrey Tambor). 10 p.m., Sundance TV.
