Upcoming special film showings in the area

‘Return of the River’

The Monroe Library is screening the documentary, “Return of the River,” 6:30 p.m. March 26 in the Monroe Meeting Room. The film is about the removal of the dam on the Elwha River on the Olympic Peninsula. Refreshments will be provided. After the film, a Sierra Club representative will lead a discussion about ongoing opportunities to protect rivers and wild lands on the Peninsula and across Washington State. Movies at the library

Bring your friends, have some popcorn and enjoy a movie at a branch of the Sno-Isle library system. Here’s a look at the upcoming schedule. March 20: “Divergent,” Freeland, 2 p.m. April 4: “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” Oak Harbor, 2 p.m. April 6: “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” Monroe, 2 p.m. April 17: “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” Freeland, 2 p.m. April 21: “Rudy,” Granite Falls, 3:30 p.m. April 22: “Big Hero 6,” Arlington, noon.

James Cagney films

The Historic Everett Theatre is showing James Cagney films in the month of March. All showtimes are at 1 p.m. March 24: “Something to Sing About.” March 31: “The Public Enemy.”

Whidbey festival

The Whidbey Reads Film Festival will be showing a number of sports-themed films during the month of March at the Oak Harbor and Freeland branches of the Sno-Isle Libraries. March 25: “Cool Runnings,” Freeland, 1:30 p.m., “Miracle,” Oak Harbor, 2 p.m.

‘I’ll Be Me’

A documentary chronicling Glen Campbell’s journey navigating Alzheimer’s will be shown 7:30 p.m. April 18 at Edmonds Center for the Arts. The film screening will be followed by a concert by Ashley and Shannon Campbell, Glen Campbell’s children. The tickets are $20 and a portion of the money raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western &Central Washington chapter.
