The Killers plan to play Seattle on April 22, and if its like the group’s recent recent New York City show, it could be great.
The group has a way of putting out albums that miss the mark — half fanastic ear candy, half generic retreads. But now that it has three full lengths under its belt, the set list can focus solely on the solid material.
Speaking of which, the group just put out its nutty video for “Spaceman,” arguably the best track off its November release, “Day and Age.” See that and more below.
The Killers – “Spaceman” – Video
Man, Brandon Flowers can really one-up himself. First he wore a jacket with feathered shoulders in the “Human” video. Now he’s wearing a skin tight red-and-black leotard with football pads and even more feathers. The video has got nothing going for it, really, except crazy costumes and a giant skull on top of a scaffolding. Which is plenty. Why can’t all rock stars be Vegas natives?
Andrew Bird – “Fitz and the Dizzyspells” – Live on Letterman
The lanky Chicago songwriter busts out his guitar and gramophone-styled set for an energetic performance on the Late Show that makes the jaded late night host a bit giddy. And who can blame him, really? Whistle solo!
The Gaslight Anthem – “The ‘59 Sound” – Video
These guys are landing on a bunch of year end lists, with good reason. Like the Hold Steady, the group sort of melds Bruce Springsteen with punk rock. Unlike the Hold Steady, the Gaslight Anthem has a vocalist who sings his lyrics, instead of sort of talking them. Which, no disrespect to Craig Finn, is sort of nice.
