Co-op America has opened voting for its 2007 People’s Choice Award for Green Business of the Year.
At the top of the Top 10 list of the nominees — put together by the D.C.-based nonprofit “seeking economic action for a just planet” — is Seattle-based Flexcar.
Though the national car-sharing program doesn’t have cars stashed in Snohomish County, it’s a pretty cool concept, especially around urban areas and universities: Borrow a car when you need it, use alternative transportation when you don’t. Help save the planet. Some of the vehicles (30 percent of the national fleet) are hybrids and many get great gas mileage.
Check out the list of other cool green businesses including ReusableBags.com, a great, Chicago-based site for life-changing eco-friendly products, including extra-large heavy-duty totes to help with big loads of groceries.
Vote for your favorite business by Oct. 15.
