Skedaddle to Lake Sammamish and paddle along with a guide to view great blue herons on kayak tours on March 7 and 27.
The tours, led by a state park ranger, begin at Lake Sammamish State Park, 2000 NW Sammamish Road, Issaquah. You’ll learn about this heron nesting area as you paddle the shores of the lake and poke up Issaquah Creek.
Besides blue herons, you may spot other waterfowl, even an eagle or two.
Families with children age 7 and up are welcome.
There are two sessions each day, 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Call Issaquah Paddle Sports at 866-306-1825 to register. It’s $5 per person. Single sit-upon kayaks may be rented for $10. Doubles are $15.
Free dry suits and life vests will be provided, but dress for the weather and wear footwear that can get wet.
