Man, there were a lot of solid articles about music this week, so many that I couldn’t include them all.
There also was an interview with Will “The human torch was denied a bank loan” Ferrell, who, yes, isn’t a musician. I just couldn’t justify directly linking to it, because I’m uptight, apparently. So instead, I hid a link in this round-up. Because I’m also geeky, apparently.
Now sure, you could just go to www.theonion.com, and find the interview the easy way. Or you could try to find the link. It’s embedded in a word somewhere on this page, and I haven’t put that particular link in bold. Happy hunting.
On to the articles:
Jim DeRogatis of the Chicago Sun Times talks to Sia as she bathes, shouting “mental, mental, chicken oriental!” All right then.
The Washington Post and Taylor Swift are so BFF right now, but whatever, it’s cool.
Asked to name one stupid thing he’s done in his life, Pete Seeger mentions to Rolling Stone he didn’t realize “that I had an extraordinarily talented wife, and there were things that she wanted to do sometimes.” Awwwwww. Then he goes on to say he’s partial to elfin politician Dennis Kucinich over Obama, Clinton or Huckabee. Awwwwww — wait, what?
The New Yorker weighs in on “junkie retro soul,” i.e., Amy Winehouse, i.e., a junkie who sings retro soul.
Man, has anyone not interviewed the stars of “Once” at this point? I think I saw the cute couple giving an interview at Taco Bell on my way home from work yesterday. Anyway, here’s another chat with the recent Oscar winners — from PitchforkMedia.com this time, and pretty revealing at that. Also, case you missed it, the duo happen to be playing Seattle in April.
