What wine to pair with Thanksgiving turkey

Wines that pair perfectly with Thanksgiving dinner will be presented for sampling 1-4:30 p.m., Nov. 19 at Arista Wine Cellars, 320 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds.

The free sampling will include Pinot Noirs, other reds and terrific whites that go well with turkey, ham and all the trimmings.

Courses and classes

Holiday open house, 4-7 p.m. Nov. 11. Enjoy beverages and appetizers. Live demos, samples. Bring non-perishable food donations for the Lynnwood Food Bank.

Bistro Comfort – On the Wild Side, 6:30-9p.m. Nov. 15. Partial hands-on class for 20. $50. On the menu: Gruyere Mac and Cheese with Bacon, Chanterelle Mushrooms and Shallots; Ale Braised Short Ribs with Parmesan Polenta (an upscale spin on a Pot Roast).

Restaurant Cookig Fundamentals: Meat, 6:30-9 p.m. Nov. 16. Partial hands-on class for 20. Learn to sauté, grill and pan roast. Tips on meat cuts and techniques for achieving the perfect rare, medium rare, medium and well done meats.

Liquor stores open Veterans Day

All state-run liquor stores will be open on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Stores will be open 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Country Village holiday event

Country Village in Bothell will be transformed into a Holiday Wonderland 5 to 8 p.m., Nov. 19 with all of the sights and sounds of the season.

That evening visitors will be able to start their holiday celebrations viewing twinkling lights, roasting chestnuts and seasonal music at the “Taste of the Holidays: Wine Tasting and Open House”.

Twenty Country Village merchants and 20 Washington wineries are pairing up to offer guests special tastes and treats in the shops.

Guests will be able to purchase their favorite vintages from this event for their holiday festivities, including bottles personally autographed by winemakers, at the on-site wine store hosted by the Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation.

Tickets are $20 in advance, and will be sold online through Nov. 17th at www.npacf.org. Tickets will be sold at the event for $25 while they last. Ticket price includes event entry, 10 tasting tickets and treats at the shops. Additional tasting tickets will be sold onsite.

This is an environmentally friendly BYOG event where guest are encouraged to “Bring Your Own Glass” with festive glassware also encouraged.

Proceeds will benefit the Northshore Performing Arts Center.
