Fans of Yo Gabba Gabba, the Emmy-nominated kids TV show from Nick Jr., will love “Yo Gabba Gabba Live: It’s Time to Dance.”
Toddlers and little ones aren’t the only audience. Many grownups adore this show for the use of live music and its goofy sense of humor.
The same characters from the TV show, including DJ Lance Rock, come to life on stage. He’ll be joined by Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Plex and Toodee along with guests Biz Markie and rapper Leslie Hall. Local surprise artists are likely to show up as well, officials said. (Huge bands, including the Flaming Lips, have made guest appearances.)
The live show follows the format of the hit TV show, now in its fourth season. The audience learns to “beat box,” and there’s plenty of music and dancing.
The TV show started when two Los Angeles-area musicians said they couldn’t find quality children’s programing. They asked friends for start-up money and posted a show on the Internet.
Network bigwigs took note and the TV show has been a sensation since, hosting luminary Hollywood and music world celebrities.
This is the second live Yo Gabba Gabba show to tour the country (it’s completely new, if you saw the first one). It’s a state-of-the-art, high-energy production spectacular.
Catch it at 2 p.m and 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Paramount, 911 Pine St., Seattle.
Tickets are $22 to $46 or $126 for a VIP package at stgpresents.org or 877-784-4849.
