Jason Park grew up in the greater Seattle area for most of his early life, largely in Mukilteo, where he went to scenic-sounding schools with names like Serene Lake Elementary and Olympic View Middle School.
When he was a little older, he moved away and earned his bachelor’s in political science and government from the University of California, San Diego.
But his hometown stomping ground always had a place in his heart, so he returned to the Puget Sound area more than 15 years ago.
“The community up here in the Seattle area really left an impact on me,” said Park, who built himself a solid career in the retail business, eventually landing at Comcast in 2019.
Today, he’s a retail manager for the Xfinity store in Everett, a role that has allowed him to thrive professionally while also engaging with the community that has always felt like home.
“Working at Comcast, we’re often seen as this corporation,” Park said, “but we have so many things we do in the community to better the community.”
For starters, Park said he’s heavily involved with Comcast’s community partners and often attends events held at multifamily housing communities around the region. The goal is to help educate residents on the vital services Comcast provides – including high-speed internet and its low-cost Internet Essentials service – while also throwing in a dash of fun in the form of pool parties or social gatherings with cotton candy, hot dogs or Italian sodas.
“It’s just about connecting with a lot of the residents and the members of our community and letting them know how we can impact their lives by providing the internet and communication services that we do,” Park said. “We want to make sure we are out there and letting people know we are here for them.”
A current resident of nearby Marysville, Park is also regularly involved with the Asian Counseling and Referral Service, a social justice organization that promotes the health and well-being of Asians and other communities. The group puts on an annual Walk for Rice, which raises funds for the ACRS Food Bank and its nutrition programs.
“I love doing stuff like that as well,” Park said, noting that Comcast also made a sizable donation to ACRS this year.
Comcast’s other community involvement in the Everett area have included, among many efforts, being a sponsor of the Everett 3on3 basketball tournament and opening a Lift Zone at the Alderwood Boys & Girls Club in Lynnwood with free internet, computers, a 3D printer and more.
Park also sees Comcast’s physical presence in the Everett community, with its Xfinity retail store, as part of the company’s support for area residents. People who need help with their internet service, their cable or mobile services, can walk right into the store and find the support they need.
And Comcast recently completed , from mobile devices to streaming options and internet plans.
“A lot of other providers just don’t have a physical presence in their communities, a place where people can walk in and get the help they’re looking for,” Park said. “We do have that, and a big part of what we’re able to do here is help people when they can’t fix something or when they’re looking for something new. It’s nice to be able to make that connection.”
