A recent report from the Alzheimer’s Association estimates 126,000 Washington residents are living with Alzheimer’s disease and 247,000 are unpaid family caregivers. The Association’s Washington Chapter helps families in the journey with the disease by providing community education, care consultations, support groups and a 24-hour helpline that operates seven days a week, 365 days a year that is staffed by Masters level clinicians.
Worldwide, the Association is the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research and is committed to accelerating the global progress of new treatments, preventions and, ultimately, a cure. Locally, the Association is funding researchers at the University of Washington and Washington State University.
During the spring and summer, community members help build awareness and raise funds by participating in The Longest Day. On June 20, thousands of participants from across the world fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through an activity of their choice. Together, they use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association locally.
Register today and use these fun fundraising ideas as inspiration to start planning a The Longest Day activity.
