New ownership aims to connect Black community in Snohomish County

Aims to broaden black representation in the community

Black Snohomish County is dedicated to celebrating and amplifying Black voices. “This addition is about deepening the impact of every story told and ensuring they are heard by a broader audience,” explains Michael Adams, Executive Director at Change the Narrative.

Kendra Montgomery, a multifaceted entrepreneur involved in various media and cultural initiatives, including Pitch Black Entertainment, Black Flame Studios, and now Black Snohomish County, shares her enthusiasm for this new venture.

This new ownership aims to broaden Black Snohomish country’s impact in the community and boost Black representation. The move is part of the duo’s mission to enhance the visibility of Black businesses and ensure they thrive throughout Snohomish County and beyond.

This news ownership focuses on increasing Black business representation and ways to sustain these businesses and integrate them into the broader economic landscape of Snohomish county.

“We’re introducing a series of business coaching programs tailored specifically for Black entrepreneurs,” Michael says. These programs aim to equip business owners with the tools and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of various industries and to scale their operations effectively.

In addition to coaching, the organization plans to host regular networking events that serve as a platform for collaboration and innovation among Black business owners.

“It’s about creating a community where everyone feels supported and has access to the resources they need to succeed,” Kendra adds. These events will feature guest speakers, workshops, and opportunities for entrepreneurs to pitch their businesses to potential investors.

Black Snohomish County is also enhancing its digital presence with a revamped website and active social media channels, aiming to create a comprehensive resource directory. This online platform will list local Black-owned businesses but will also feature success stories, offer business tips, and announce upcoming community events..

Both Kendra and Michael highlight the importance of community engagement in their efforts, believing that real change comes from the ground up and that it’s essential to involve community members in the storytelling process.

“We want to hear what the community has to say, to draw on their experiences, and let that guide our projects,” Kendra emphasizes.

The collaboration also promises to bring new creative projects and events that can engage the community in meaningful ways. For more information, visit Blacksnoco.com.
