ASHFORD — A Mount Rainier National Park spokesman says one of two bodies recently recovered from a glacier on the mountain is that of a 30-year-old Atlanta woman who was one of four people who vanished in January storms.
Park spokesman Kevin Bacher said Monday the Pierce County medical examiner’s office has identified the body of Michelle Trojanowski. She and 37-year-old Mark Vucich of Agoura Hills, Calif., failed to return from a camping trip on the Muir snowfield. Vucich’s body was found Aug. 6.
Work continues to identify a male body found near Trojanowski. Those two bodies were recovered Friday on the Paradise Glacier, at about the 8,200-foot level of the 14,411-foot peak.
Melting snow exposed the bodies.
Two climbers also were reported missing nearby at the same time — Sork “Eric” Yang of Springfield, Ore., and Seol Hee Jin of South Korea, both 52.
Bacher said an extensive search on Saturday failed to turn up a fourth body.
