MADRAS, Ore. — Authorities say three llamas were found on grasslands east of Madras.
Capt. Mark Heckathorn of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says it’s unknown whether the two females and one male llama were abandoned or merely lost when they were discovered Tuesday. He says it appeared they had been wandering for some time.
One llama is black and the other two are brown and white.
The Bulletin newspaper reports the animals are being examined by veterinarians and tended to by Mustangs to the Rescue, a nonprofit in Sisters.
