SULTAN — A bit of the Wild West came east and might have headed north.
Four horses were stolen from a rural pasture near Sultan in the eastern part of the county, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The rustler drove away with the horses sometime Tuesday, and deputies believe the trailer may have headed north toward Marysville or Stanwood.
"If four horses show up in a field somewhere in Stanwood, we’d be interested in hearing about it," said sheriff’s Lt. Dallas Swank.
The horses were being boarded at a farm in the 30300 block of U.S. 2. They belong to Carrie Conway of Everett, but police have no indication that there is any dispute over ownership, Swank said.
"We don’t get many people stealing horses. When it does happen, it’s usually one horse taken, not four," Swank said.
Conway, 22, is desperate to find the horses. The oldest, a black and white paint named Lady, has arthritis in her legs and needs medication, she said.
"I’ve had Lady since we were both 10. I’m really worried about her," Conway said.
The other horses are a bay and white paint with one blue eye, a bay Arab and paint mix, and a black paint. The horses are used for trail riding, Conway said, and she hasn’t even ridden 2-year-old Prince yet.
"I was waiting until he was 3. He’s my dream horse," she said.
Conway usually visits the horses every weekend. An employee at the farm notified her that the horses were missing.
"She said they were all gone," Conway said. "I need them to come back."
Anyone with information about the missing horses is asked to call the sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
