ORTING — Five children shot to death by their father have been laid to rest in the Orting Cemetery after a small, private service.
Chaplain Rick Bulhman said about 70 family members and friends of the Harrison children attended Thursday’s ceremony at a nearby funeral home.
The children — Maxine, 16; Jayme, 14; Samantha, 12; Heather, 9; and James, 7 — were killed April 4 in their home near Graham. Pierce County sheriff’s officers say four were asleep when 34-year-old James Harrison opened fire and one was killed after a struggle in the bathroom.
Investigators say Harrison killed the children after he discovered his wife with another man at an Auburn-area convenience store. He later killed himself in Auburn.
