PASCO — The abortion issue drew about 200 people to a Pasco planning commission meeting for a proposed Planned Parenthood clinic.
No abortions would be performed at the clinic, which would offer exams, treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and birth control.
But many of the people at the Thursday night hearing were concerned that the clinic might offer abortions in the future or that anti-abortion demonstrations might threaten nearby Mark Twain Elementary School.
The Tri-City Herald reports the commission is likely to make a recommendation next month to the city council.
Planned Parenthood supporters, many wearing pink T-shirts, said the clinic would bring needed health care to women in Pasco.
