STANWOOD – A head-on collision early Monday morning halted traffic on the General Mark W. Clark Memorial Bridge for about an hour, police said.
Traffic heading into Stanwood apparently came to a stop suddenly, said trooper Keith Leary, a Washington State Patrol spokesman. A car swerved into oncoming traffic at about 7:30 to avoid crashing into a stopped car.
The people involved in the crash were taken to Skagit Valley Hospital with minor injuries, he said.
Traffic was reopened on the bridge, the only road leading to and from Camano Island, at about 8:30.
