Maybe this pair was just off their game that morning. Nevertheless they should give up being crooks because they are not good at it. A botched break-in at a hair salon landed the two men behind bars. One is facing a burglary charge. The other, the getaway driver, is accused of trying to outrun police.
Seems they did it all for 11 bucks in change.
Here’s how it went down according to court papers:
Lake Stevens police were called at 2 a.m. last month to the Hair Masters on Highway 9 for a possible break-in. A witness told officers that a BMW pulled into the parking lot and dropped off a guy. Other witnesses saw the BMW circle the parking lot three times before parking in front of the hair salon.
They saw a man pick something up and throw it at a window. The object bounced off the window. (First clue this isn’t going well). Not deterred the man threw the object at the window again. This time it broke. The man kicked the broken glass and stepped inside.
Meanwhile an officer spotted a BMW leaving the parking area and a fellow officer advised him that the car could be associated with the burglary. The officer tried to stop the BMW but the driver had other ideas. He drove around the back of the strip mall and led the cop on a chase. He sped through other parking lots, circled around and eventually crashed into a dirt embankment.
The officers took the Marysville man into custody. When they asked him why he tried to outrun the police, he said “I just went to McDonald’s.” They pressed him for a better answer. Why did he run? “Because the police got behind him,” the man said.
Officers returned to the Hair Masters and yelled through the hole in the window. They ordered anyone inside to come out. The burglar walked out through the hole. His front pocket was full of loose change.
While the officers were chasing after his friend, the man went through the store, possibly trying to get to the safe and likely stopping for a snack from the refrigerator.
