OLYMPIA — The Washington Department of Transportation says a second daily Amtrak Cascades train between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia, will begin service next Wednesday. The train service is aimed at helping with traffic during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the Paralympic Winter Games.
The second Amtrak Cascades train service will begin on Aug. 19 with a northbound train from Portland arriving in Vancouver, B.C., at about 10:45 p.m. and leaving to go south at 6:40 a.m.
Amtrak runs four daily roundtrips between Seattle and Portland. Only one of those trains has been going all the way to Vancouver, British Columbia, each day.
