WENATCHEE — With success on the ballot in November at home in Mukilteo, initiative sponsor Tim Eyman has taken his campaign against traffic camera tickets to four more cities in Washington.
Eyman helped launch campaigns against automatic red light and speeding tickets this week in Bellingham, Longview, Monroe and Wenatchee.
They aim for elections to repeal traffic camera ordinances, require a citizen vote to install cameras and to limit citations to the cost of the least expensive ticket.
In Wenatchee about 700 people a month are finding tickets for $124 in the mail for running red lights.
Eyman says the tickets are more about raising revenue than in improving safety.
Legislation is also before state lawmakers to require traffic camera votes.
