Essay winner: Joseph Lowery, an eighth-grade student at St. Mary Magdalen School, won the American history essay contest for his school in an event sponsored by the Peter Puget Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Students of month named: Marysville-Pilchuck High School seniors Chelsea Bergesen and James Millikan have been named students of the month for January. Each received recognition at the Marysville School Board meeting Feb. 2 from the Marysville Soroptimist and Kiwanis clubs.
January honorees listed: Students of the month for January at Harbour Pointe Middle School are sixth-graders Amanda Faust, Brianna Faust, Matthew Moore, Alyssa Overton and Tim Varner; seventh-graders Meredith Gabel, Kelsey Knowles, Garrett Kwon and Grant Wachob; and eighth-graders Kelley Asamoto, Melissa Fredericks, Ryan Hyde and Jeff Podmayer. Harbour Pointe is a school in the Mukilteo School District.
