Rotary awards: Rotary Club of Everett Students of the Month for October are Haley Bavasi of Archbishop Murphy High School, Danielle Elliott of Cascade High School and Jono Hanks of Everett High School.

Cascadia awards: Cascadia Community College in Bothell received two regional awards for its publications. The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District VII awarded Cascadia with a gold Medallion Award for its first report to the community, and a bronze Medallion Award for its schedule of classes. The Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community, junior and technical colleges. It’s the only competition of its kind that exclusively honors excellence among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges. District VII includes Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Yukon Territory.

Contemporary quilt: Susan Pefley of Everett is among 17 quilt artists juried into "Visual Verse," an exhibition sponsored by the Contemporary QuiltArt Association of Seattle. The project paired quilt artists and poets for a year of collaboration. Susan’s quilt, "Curious Pursuit," is based on a collaboration with poet Chris Cantu, whose work is titled "Dearest Julia and Maud."

Elks honors: Joseph Alonso, a junior in the precision machining program, is the Everett Elks Lodge No. 479 Sno-Isle Student of the Month for September. Joseph was in attendance at Sno-Isle every day, even though his school (Marysville-Pilchuck) was not in session.

Daniell Thompson, a junior at Lynnwood High School, was selected as Sno-Isle’s October Student of the Month. She is in the dental assistant program at Sno-Isle Skills Center.

Costco scholars named: Several Snohomish County students have received a Costco Scholarship. Scholarships to the University of Washington have been awarded to Marjorie James, Adrian Moynihan and Ashley Zigler. Scholarships to Seattle University have been awarded to Ginelle Brown, Ashley Burns, Natasha Garduno, Sofia Hernandez and Tania Torres. They were honored at breakfast. Costco raised $1.8 million for minority students to attend local universities.

"Top-notch" students: Harbour Pointe Middle School in Mukilteo recently named its October students of the month based on the theme "A student with a Top-Notch positive attitude."

Those students are sixth-graders Christie Fabish, Sam Jeong, Christina Faust and Jason Rosendahl; seventh-graders Angela Phung, Michael Ellis, Daniel Oh and Erica Otness; and eighth-graders Julia Church, Matt Patterson, Tim Perisho and Annissa Alusi.

"Friendliest" named: Voyager Middle School, a Mukilteo School District campus, recently named its October students of the month for their friendly attitudes. They are sixth-graders Amanda Anderson, Cailey Bjorn, Anastasia Boyko, Kayla Gourley, Brian Guerra, Jennifer Lindholm, Tyler Takacs and Mychael Tuiasosopo; seventh-graders Jasmine Bravo, Dona Mahmoudian, Abel Palma, Irene Robayo, Alma Ruiz, Refel Seleem and Ilona Shaban; and eighth-graders Bertha Antoci, Daniel Link, Jorjanna Mason, Dean Olsby, Kayle Roberts-Starkey and Brittany Wilson.
