Marysville troop fetes five Eagle Scouts

Boy Scout Troop 80 and its Marysville Kiwanis sponsor held a group Court of Honor on April 30 at the Marysville Free Methodist Church to celebrate the attainment of five Eagle Scouts at one time. Honored were Micah Brewer, Austin Hines, Nathaniel Ludwig, Christopher Reynaud and Michael Wegemann. Wegemann is from Lake Stevens.

Pancakes raise $3,500 for baby Emma

A Norwegian pancake breakfast fundraiser held May 21 by Ebenezer Lutheran Church of Lake Stevens church raised more than $3,500 to help the Large family with medical expenses for 3-month-old Emma, who is expected to have heart surgery soon.

Parents Tom and Darra Large attend the church with their three children. Church members wanted a way to help, and decided to donate that month’s breakfast proceeds to the family.

Smokey Point cleanup deemed a success

More than 115 volunteers joined together May 14 to clean up five key areas in Smokey Point. Volunteers from local businesses NexGen, Smokey Point Safeway, 7-11, Lowes, NW Plus Credit Union, Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber, the city of Arlington, Boy Scout Troop 92, Arlington Rotary, Jake’s House, LifeChurch360 and the Arlington Graffiti Brigade filled five dumpsters and painted over graffiti.

Yeehaw! Mukilteo bus drivers take 1st

The Mukilteo School District’s team of school bus drivers took first place in the recent regional safety competition Road-eo, hosted at Mariner High School.

School bus drivers from the North Puget Sound area competed in the event designed to enhance driving skills, build confidence, network, and have fun. The Mukilteo team included four drivers and one dispatcher: Carl Colburn, Danessa Gonzalez, Michael Shurtz, Aaron Sushinsky and dispatcher Tricia Thomas.

Lynnwood Scout honored for trail

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1040 held an Eagle Court of Honor to award its VFW Eagle Scout Award to Boy Scout Trevor Kingman of Troop 312. Kingman updated a trail behind Lynnwood City Hall.

Terrace Scout recognized

The Mountlake Terrace City Council recognized Eagle Scout Candidate Gavin Clark at its May 16 meeting. Clark’s Eagle Scout project constructed a retaining wall at the Mountlake Terrace Off-Leash Dog Park.

Grant pays for accessible vehicle

The Employees Community Fund of Boeing awarded a $40,000 grant to the Bethany of the Northwest Foundation. The grant will go towards the purchase of a new handicapped-accessible vehicle with a capacity for six wheelchairs, helping Bethany at Pacific transport its low-income and disabled senior residents on various outings.
