Acts of kindness for Down Syndrome Day

The Down Syndrome Association of Snohomish County celebrated World Down Syndrome Day on March 21 with random acts of kindness across the area.

“By spreading kindness in our county, we’re sharing the message that people with Down syndrome are important members of the community,” board President Amy Patterson said.

In Everett, young people with Down syndrome delivered muffins to their dance and swim instructors.

World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated internationally on the 21st day of the third month of the year, a date symbolic of the third copy of the 21st chromosome that characterizes Down syndrome. The day aims to raise awareness and to advocate for the rights, inclusion and well-being of individuals with Down syndrome.

Birthday girl exceeds goal for food bank

That’s enough to send food home with five students in the Marysville and Lakewood communities each weekend for an entire school year.

Fallyn thanks donors as well as Becky Dues at Dues Produce Barn, which served as a collection site during the drive. This is the third year of Fallyn’s birthday food drive.
